Aurora Cannabis Brand vs Aurora the City: What Shoppers Actually Mean

Updated May 2026. When Ontario shoppers search for "Aurora cannabis," they're typically looking for one of two completely different things: Aurora Cannabis Inc., the federally Licensed Producer headquartered in Edmonton, or Aurora, Ontario, the town in York Region where Ashario Cannabis operates a retail dispensary at 15114 Yonge Street. This guide clears up the confusion, explains what each "Aurora" actually offers, and shows shoppers exactly how to find what they want.

At Ashario Cannabis, our budtenders field this question almost daily. A customer walks in asking for "Aurora," and we have to clarify: do you mean the brand on the shelf, or are you asking about our Aurora store location? Both are legitimate searches, both are common, and both deserve clear answers. Below, we break down each one in detail, including current Aurora Cannabis brand products available in Ontario, store information for our Aurora dispensary, and how to tell which "Aurora" matches your search intent.

Quick Answer: Aurora Cannabis Brand vs Aurora the City

Aurora Cannabis Inc. is one of Canada's largest federally Licensed Producers, founded in 2013 and trading on the TSX under ACB. The Aurora cannabis brand produces flower, pre-rolls, vapes, oils, and softgels sold across Ontario through licensed retailers. Aurora, Ontario is a town of roughly 62,000 residents in York Region, located along Yonge Street between Newmarket and Richmond Hill, and it's home to Ashario Cannabis Aurora at 15114 Yonge Street, open 7 AM to 11 PM daily.

If you're searching for "aurora cannabis brand" you want products. If you're searching for "cannabis store Aurora" you want a dispensary. Ashario serves both needs. We stock Aurora Cannabis LP products at all four of our Ontario store locations, and we operate a physical retail location in the town of Aurora itself.

Aurora Cannabis LP: The Licensed Producer Explained

Aurora Cannabis Inc. is a publicly traded Canadian Licensed Producer (LP) headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta, with cultivation facilities including Aurora Sky in Alberta and Aurora River in Bradford, Ontario. As of 2026, Aurora is one of the top five LPs by Canadian recreational market share and operates multiple consumer brands under its umbrella. Aurora Cannabis is regulated under the federal Cannabis Act.

The Aurora Cannabis brand portfolio includes several distinct sub-brands, each targeted at a different consumer segment:

• Aurora Drift: value-oriented flower, pre-rolls, gummies, and vapes designed for everyday consumers
• San Rafael '71: heritage-style flower with classic genetics like Tangerine Dream and Jean Guy
• Whistler Cannabis Co. premium organic, hand-trimmed BC flower (acquired by Aurora in 2019)
• Daily Special: the lowest-priced tier, focused on accessible THC potency
• Aurora (master brand): higher-potency flower, live rosin, and concentrates

For a deeper look at how Licensed Producers differ from each other, our Ashario Cannabis blog regularly publishes brand reviews covering LPs whose products land on our shelves.

Aurora Cannabis Brand Review: Products Available at Ashario

Aurora Cannabis products are consistently stocked across all four Ashario locations, with inventory rotating based on customer demand. Aurora is best known in Ontario for its dried flower category, particularly mid-shelf cultivars at competitive THC percentages, and for its expanding vape and concentrate lineup. The brand's Aurora Drift gummies are also a frequent re-order at our stores.

Aurora Cannabis Flower

Aurora's dried flower is typically sold in 3.5g, 7g, 14g, and 28g formats. Cultivars our budtenders see rotate frequently include Pink Kush, Driftwood Diesel, and Tangerine Dream. THC ranges generally fall between 18% and 26% depending on batch and cultivar. Browse current cannabis flower and product categories to see what's in stock today.

Aurora Vapes and 510 Carts

Aurora's vape lineup includes 510-thread cartridges and all-in-one disposables in strain-specific options. These are CO2 and distillate-based, with terpene profiles matched to popular cultivars. For shoppers comparing options, our team can walk you through the differences between Aurora carts and other LP offerings in-store.

Aurora Edibles and Softgels

Under Health Canada's edible regulations, Aurora's THC gummies are capped at 10mg THC per package. Aurora Drift gummies are commonly stocked in fruit-forward flavours. Aurora also produces THC and CBD softgels for consumers who prefer pre-measured oral formats: useful for shoppers who want consistent dosing without the variability of inhalation.

Aurora Cannabis Brand vs Other LPs at Ashario

Aurora Cannabis is one of dozens of Licensed Producers we carry. Compared to other major LPs, Aurora tends to compete in the mid-tier flower space with consistent THC percentages and accessible pricing through its Aurora Drift and Daily Special sub-brands, while Whistler Cannabis Co. (under the Aurora corporate umbrella) targets the premium organic segment. Shoppers who want craft-style flower often gravitate toward Whistler; shoppers who want value with reliable potency often choose Aurora Drift.

Aurora's strengths in the Ontario market include broad SKU availability, multi-format options (flower, vape, edible, softgel), and reliable batch-to-batch consistency. Customers comparing brands in-store can ask any Ashario budtender for a side-by-side comparison based on current shelf inventory.
